High-calibre specialist translations for the construction and engineering industry

Hi, I am Sapna and I provide a specialized translation service to the Swedish construction and engineering industry. Combining a mix of two decades of translation experience and technical training, I work with professionals to achieve high-calibre translations of their technical documents. I have worked for and with some prominent names within the industry - Skanska, WSP, and the Riksdag, among others.

The Story

I began my translation journey in 2001 as a French to English translator, and translated engineering documents for Jyoti Structures. I was finishing my translation studies with plans to take on a senior role when cupid struck, I met my husband at work, and we moved to Sweden. Soon after, I completed my Bachelors in Translation from Stockholm University and started freelancing for translation agencies.

In 2009, I started working at Skanska as a senior in-house technical translator on their largest hospital construction in Sweden, the New Karolinska Solna (NKS). Apart from the two-day intensive training in construction I received there, I put effort into learning more about engineering and technical writing. This three-year NKS project marked the start of my journey as a specialized technical translator – in 2012, I started WordSense and have translated and edited extensively for the Swedish construction and engineering industry.

Why me?

Experienced Translator with focus on Technical Translations

Buying translations can be daunting and confusing. Buying technical translations, more so. Each subject has its own language, for instance, if a technical document such as an operation and maintenance manual of a building is mistranslated, it can seriously jeopardize the security of the building and its inhabitants. Similarly, a technical proposal incorrectly translated could lead to lost business opportunites.

I translate exclusively from Swedish to English and specialise in technical translation since 2001. Over the years, I have built an extensive toolkit comprising an exhaustive technical termbase, which helps me produce consistent, reliable and high quality translations. I work alongside a mechanical engineer and sometimes an editor to make sure that the translation is fully vetted from top to bottom.
